Taunton Young Dancer

The Competition

Taunton Young Dancer of the Year Candidates will take part in class, learning a specially commissioned piece of contemporary or lyrical choreography and then perform to an audience along with their own prepared solo piece, both dances will be adjudicated.

For ages 8-12 years and 13-18 years.

Payment

The day costs £40.

Competition entry fees can now be paid online. Participant’s information will be filled out during the checkout process.

Notes: For students aged from 8-18 years. The age groups will be 8-12 years and 13-18 years. · Entries are limited and are first come first served basis. · Fee is £40 - Only once payment is received will your application be processed. No refunds given. · Candidates solo can be any genre at a maximum of 60 seconds for 8-12 years and 90 seconds for 13-18 years. · Candidates music must be on a CD with at-least 1 back-up. No mobile devices will be accepted.

TERMS & CONDITIONS Bookings & Regulations a) All bookings will be dealt with in order of receipt. b) Confirmation of your booking will be sent on receipt of application. c) Where applicable, specified age ranges / levels are there as a guide. d) Bookings are non-transferable to either another course or another participant. e) In order to apply an applicant must live or attend school or college within a 50-mile radius of Taunton. The applicant must not be related to or have a professional relationship with the adjudicator. f) Competitors, teachers and family members may not approach an adjudicator to question a result. Any complaint must be directed to the Taunton Festival of the Arts representative who will bring the complaint to the committee which will consider the complaint. This may be referred to BIFF. g) There will be an audience entry charge set by the committee which may or may not include the cost of the programme. h) Photography or recording of the event will not be allowed in the auditorium. i) Trophies are awarded to 1st 2nd and 3rd places. j) Winners of the Taunton Young Dancer of the Year Competition may be asked to take part in the Festival’s annual Gala Evening which is held in June.

Cancellation of an event The event may be cancelled if it fails to attract a viable number of applicants and you will be notified after the closing date if this is the case. Whilst every effort will be made to ensure that the event goes ahead, we also reserve the right to cancel the competition up until the date of the course in the event of any emergency or unforeseen circumstances out of our reasonable control such as, severe weather, a problem with the venue making it unfit for use and us not being able to source an alternative in time or illness of key personnel. Full refunds will be made in these circumstances and you will be notified accordingly using the contact details provided on the application form (email or telephone).

Withdrawals and Refunds a) There will be no refund for withdrawals made after payment and confirmation of a place, unless a medical certificate is produced. b) Applicants who withdraw due to injury or illness will have their entry fees refunded less a 10% administration charge providing a medical certificate is produced.

Insurance Applicants are advised to consider taking out insurance against withdrawal due to injury/illness or requiring medical treatment / hospitalisation; or due to personal / family reasons which might prevent them attending. Applicants with any existing injuries attend the event at their own risk.

Waiver Due to the nature of this workshop, physical contact will be necessary by members of the teaching faculty.

Consent The Taunton Festival of Arts reserves the right to alter the advertised programme and/or faculty without prior notice. The information in this and other printed or electronic brochures/notices was correct at the time of print or going online.

GDPR The Taunton Festival of Arts provides competition performances for young dancers. It holds contact details to enable it to provide those dancers and parents related products and resources that might be of interest. We will not disclose your information to any third parties except where legally required to do so.

Music Licences The use of recorded music at festivals: This Festival is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals and participates in its group licence to cover payment of fees for the use of recorded music at its events. Teachers using CD’s created from commercial recordings are advised that they should themselves obtain permission to re-record from the record companies concerned as the Festival cannot accept responsibility for this
